DearFriends,

July passed in a flash! Maybe the two weeks on vacation has something to do with that! We spent time relaxing on Blue Mountain Lake - in the middle of the spectacular Adirondack Mountains. I know you think I spend all my vacations in museums (we'll get to that in a minute...) but the air was crisp, the water was freezing (no mater what the children said), the bugs were tiny and sparse and the view was gorgeous. On the cold and rainy day my sister-in-law suggested a trip to the local museum. I thought, "well... I don't know..." I can't believe the treat that waited just outside this tiny town in the middle of nowhere! The Adirondack Museum is unbelievable - a collection of buildings, both new and historic structures moved to the site, house fabulous displays detailing the history of the Adirondacks. I hope you have a chance to visit the museum some day - it has made it to my list of favorites!

We also had a chance to stop in some quilt shops along the way - yes, I shop in other places! The Quilters Travel Companion comes in handy, as the rule in our car is we can stop only if the driver is asked in advance (my husband sure is smart - that kept him out of stores for years!). Every shop is different - I hope you get the chance to slow down and touch the fabric as you travel through the summer!

     See you soon!

           Mary Beth

  • Thinking Ahead

We've started getting our Christmas fabrics up off the floor (a terrible display system we employ when things arrive ahead of schedule) and into their own section. Barb has stitched like crazy so many of the new holiday models are going up as well! The quilts created from the Holly Jolly fabric and coordinating patterns by Sandy Gervais are already a hit! The whimsical stars, dots, stripes and funky plaids compliment an adorable panel print. Brighter shades of red, bright green and gold are used to their best advantage in Sandy's designs. Patterns - It's A Wrap $8.00, Holly Jolly $8.00 Fabric - $8.50 per yd., 54" stripe (great for table cloths) $12.00 per yd., Holly Jolly Jelly Roll (40 different 2 ½" strips) - $30.00

    Fashion Accessories

We love the new purse patterns from Sew Unique Creations. We have stitched both the Ashley and the Isabella from the Yuletide Blessing line by Fig Tree Quilts. The bags are easy and quick - great to start now for holiday gifts! Patterns - $7.50 each

    Sail Away

The new Country Threads Sail Away wall quilt would make a great remembrance of summer - fun piecing with a breezy feel. We have made our model in a wide selection of red, white and blue stars, dots and stripes. One of the new sailing themed prints perfectly frames the happy boats. Pattern $8.00

    Cactus Wreath

Last month we stitched the Cactus Wreath pattern from Cozy Quilts in our Strip Club. The quilt is absolutely stunning! We cut rich reds and greens into stacks of fifty different 2 ½" strips. With the addition of 3 ¾ yards of background and 1 ¾ yards of border a queen size quilt can be created. Clearly illustrated piecing and pressing directions make construction of the wreath blocks and setting squares enjoyable. Pattern $8.00, strip set $40.00

    Just Charming!

As it turns out we were 10 years ahead of the crowd when we introduced Charm School at Quilters Corner in 1997. Based on the traditional Charm style quilt - one constructed from a single repeated shape with no two fabric pieces alike - our club ran for several years. Now many of our favorite designers and fabric manufacturers have caught the bug - releasing both "charming" patterns and precut squares. We can't resist - we have decided to once again cut you QC Charms from our newest fabrics. At the beginning of each month we will cut fifty coordinated 5" squares (two each of 25 different fabrics). The squares are cut as accurately as can be done with ruler and rotary cutting tools (yes, I have already sub cut one set into 4" x 5" rectangles by mistake - directly into the scrap bag with those!). You can stop in the shop to pick up a set or contact us about convenient monthly billing via email

    Luscious Little Block 20

Luscious Little Block- Pattern #20 is now available! We will be happy to send you piecing fabrics for the block as shown (you provide your own block backgrounds). Please send $2.00 and a SASE to the shop and we will get them in the mail so you can begin stitching.

Each online pattern is available as an Adobe PDF. We also have archived all of the prior releases on Luscious Little Block Page so you will not miss a pattern! Once the file is open in a browser window you can print or save a copy to your hard drive. (Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat for best results.)
