Dear Jenifer,
Thank goodness
- spring finally seems to have gotten around
to Western PA! I was thrilled to find crocus
mixed in with my snowdrops in the back yard
this morning. While eating breakfast this
morning Lizzie and I were entertained by a
huge turkey in the back yard. He seems to be
after an easy meal at our bird feeder. Talk
about out of proportion - he looks ridiculous
sitting on the rail fence by the feeder. One
wonders how he managed to hoist himself up
there?! Now that we've had our morning laugh
it's on to the work of the day - hope your
day started with a smile.
See you soon,
Mary Beth

| The Very Hungry Caterpillar |
 |
|
I took home a
piece of the fun new Very Hungry Caterpillar
fabric on Saturday to get a quick quilt ready
for a baby due on Friday. Why don't babies
ever wait for me to finish?! An adorable
little boy made his entrance into our
neighborhood a week early! I'm going to
finish the quilt and put it in my stash to
replace the cute Bowtie quilt I'm wrapping
today - he'll never mind the purple binding -
I wonder if his Dad will?
Now I can
really plan the Caterpillar piece. I'm going
to cut the panel apart and add some small
pieced blocks framed in the bright
coordinates. I can't decide if the border
print might be a bit too much, so it might
wind up as an accent on the back. I'll have
to go get a copy of the book to include when
I give this one! $8.55 per yard.
This Very
Hungry Caterpillar quilt was made using the
Caterpillar fabrics and the April Calendar
Girls pattern from Debby Kratovil. Debby has
done a whole years' worth of quilts based on
the blocks in here Quilter's Block-a-Day
Calendar. You can visit the shop for more
information about the club.

| Picasso Doll |
 |
|
Jill has been
at it again! She has stitched up a phenomenal
version of Virginia Robertson's Picasso Doll
pattern. Virginia created the original 15"
doll for the "Celebration of the Doll"
exhibit in Houston. The art doll has a
Picasso inspired face and a fabric collage
body. You just have to take a closer look at
the beading Jill has added to her red, black
and gold creation. Pattern $8.50

out our current selection - it has expanded a
quite a bit over the last few weeks! Charm

Also in Charm
news - our Charm Revival Club will not meet
in April (I actually can't be in two places
at once - my mistake!). We have added an
additional date - June 28th so you won't miss
any of the great projects included in the series.

| New Thimbleberries Fabric! |
 |
|
Lynette Jensen
has just produced a marvelous
new Thimbleberries fabric collection called
Subtle Solids. The tone on tone prints blend
beautifully with all of her other lines, but
also would make a wonderful addition to
quilts made with country style groups from
other companies. Several of the green pieces
will be used in my next appliqué project.
$8.40 per yard

| More New Fabrics! |
 |
|
There is
literally tons of new fabric in the
shop! I actually can't pick a favorite, but
the Cake Rock Beach collection from Moda is
sure tempting! I have been fascinated for
months by magazine ads for a New York City
quilt shop, Purl Patchwork. I was thrilled
when the Moda salesmen mentioned their new
group done by the very same shop. I thought I
would like the pieces - and boy was I right!
Cake Rock Beach includes contemporary prints
in lime and salmon with fabulous organic
textures. $8.99 per yard
