Dear Friends,
I thought I should spend a few minutes this afternoon quilting the sample of our newest shop kit. Why do things always seem to go down hill when I think a few minutes are all that's required! The straight lines were fairly easy - I've had lots of practice with them. The problems started when I thought I would free motion the cute little leaves I had drawn at the end of the runner. I got the machine set up right this time, but quickly found I am no good at staying on drawn lines! I reset the machine and did better, but then couldn't work the little circles at all - which meant I had to spend more time looking for a fabric eraser (and seam ripper) to remove the evidence! Next time I think I'll just plan to spend all afternoon quilting - I'll be much happier!
Wishing you peaceful stitching! Mary Beth
PS We're already hard at work on samples for our December 5th Market Party - I'll carefully avoid quilting anything so I'll be able to get to more than one sample!

Great Gift Ideas!
I had feared that our access to vintage Singer machines had all but dried up - as it turns out, no need to worry just yet. At the moment we have several in the shop to choose from. The hard working machines currently for sale were manufactured between 1939 and 1955. Friends and staff members have brought them in to sell - we don't know the full history of each machine, but we know that at the moment each stitches beautifully (as demonstrated by the small pieced blocks - stitched on the machines they are attached to). Prices vary depending on condition and the items included with the machine. Featherweights range from $350.00 to $400.00, 301's range from $135.00 to $185.00. Let us know if you are interested in one of these treasures - they go very quickly. You might want to consider one as a special gift.
New gift items and kits are being added to the shop every week. You will find jewelry, rayon scarves, ornaments, calendars and new project kits perfect for holiday gifts. Why not send Santa in to select something for you?

2010 QC Date Book is now available!
We finished work on our 2010 Quilters Corner date book last week. It includes information about many of the events planned for next year (and room for you to add notes of your own), special invitations and coupons. We have also included the first pattern in our newest appliqué series. The Vintage Garden quilt will be made up of 7" x 7" blocks inspired by designs from the mid to late 1800's. Other blocks in the series will be shared, as they are ready, throughout the coming year. The date books can be purchased for $1.95 each until the end of December 2009.

From Our Table
From Our Table displays can be found all over the shop - with more still to come! Each little vignette, all of which will remain in place until November 21st, includes a table topper or runner and unique china and accessories. The entire event is really focused on helping to stock the local food pantry. Bring in a food item to donate and we will trade you a ballot to vote for your favorite setting. If your name is drawn from the entries you will win a kit for this year's favorite runner.
