Dear Friends,
I remember when my Mom taught our youngest son what serendipity means. I know we have lived through lots of examples since, but I have a doozy to share! During one of the lovely little storms a few weeks back my main task was to check in a mountain of new Kaffe fabrics. Paige and I had spent most of the day by ourselves and at moments like that I start to question whether anyone will return to see the lovely fabric I'm adding to the shelves... All it took was the next phone call to waylay that concern - I was certain you guys would be "in" for the very fabrics I was dealing with! Guess who's coming to Finleyville! Kaffe Fassett and Liza Prior Lucy!
I'm not sure how many more surprises like this I can handle, but winter sure seems a whole lot brighter with an event like this to look forward to!

Kaffe Fassett Lecture ~ Simple Shapes, Spectacular Quilts
Wednesday, April 14th ~ 7:00pm

 World renowned designer and author Kaffe Fassett and co author Liza
Prior Lucy will visit our corner of the world this spring. The evening
features an inspiring lecture focusing on their latest project, Simple
Shapes, Spectacular Quilts. Much of Fassett's work is influenced by the
everyday architecture of a diverse world. Watch as the vivid colors and
shapes of his current travels find their way into his latest project.
Audience members are encouraged to bring their own creations to share
with Fassett and are invited to a book signing at the end of the
lecture. Please watch for information about the arrival of his newest
book in the shop - it should be here before anywhere else!
Tickets for this event must be purchased in advance at the shop or on line. They may be picked up at the shop before the event or at the door on April 14th. Space is limited - please order your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Game Day Super Sale
I find it hard to believe that any of you would forget, but here is the quick reminder - the Game Day Super Sale takes place in the shop this Sunday from 12:00pm - 5:00pm! We know those attending will gather yardage faster than an offensive player - at 25% off all regular price in stock merchandise who could resist?! The atmosphere is a bit different here that day - kind of like being in the crush of football fans - it's worth noting that we still have fabric left later in the day when the crowd has thinned out a bit!

More Pink and Chocolate Fabrics
 I can't wait for you to see the new More Pink and Chocolate group by Nancy Gere for Windham Fabrics. The late 19th century style prints are absolutely gorgeous. Bethany Fuller has used them in a stunning 63" x 75" quilt that features simple Sister's Choice blocks and sashing. The pattern is included in the $89.50 kit for this piece. Fabric $9.10 per yard

New Purses and Bag Ideas!
 Barb enjoyed hosting our shop Purse Party earlier in the month. You will find numerous new bags, made by her students, displayed throughout the shop. I love the piece Deanna made using one of the newest batik fabrics. The orange and purple fabric made a striking rendition of the Long-Stemmed Tulip Purse. This new bag has a single handle (unlike the original Two Hour Tulip Purse which had two) and a generous flat to keep things safely inside. Fusible interfacing and fleece help the bag retain its unique shape. Pattern $12.00, Fabric kit $16.75 (includes batik fabrics, the same as or similar to those used in our sample, for the outer layer and lining of the regular size bag)

Friendship Triangle News
Because no one registered for the Friendship Triangle evening program scheduled for Tuesday the 2nd (as required in the instructions included with your triangle kits) the presentation will be offered only in the morning. We have sorted and bagged the hundreds of half square triangles you created - those of you that turned in triangles will be able to pick up your packs at the Tuesday afternoon presentation or when you next visit. We can't wait to see what you do with your collection! |
