Dear Friends,
First we shoveled and shoveled and then we worked in the dark (and boy was it chilly!). I really was ready to dance in the street on the first day of spring! Instead we began to rearrange the entire shop to celebrate. So, you will find some areas of the shop that look fantastic and others that will leave you scratching your head! It should look better and better with each visit in the coming weeks.
See you soon,
Mary Beth
PS The remaining Olivia fabric no longer fits in the children's section so it is now being offered at 50% off! Jen will have these online later this week.

Kaffe Fassett Fabrics and More!
Our evening with Kaffe Fassett and Liza Prior Lucy will begin at 7:00pm on April 14th. Tickets for their presentation and book-signing event have been sold out for several days but you may add your name to a waiting list if you wish - space may become available. We can't wait to see some of the pieces from their newest book and others that they have packed to share. The doors to the event room at Trax will open at 6:00pm. We will have quilts, small demos, cookies and coffee to share before Kaffe and Liza arrive. The shop will be open until 6:00pm on the 14th for those of you who wish to spend a few more minutes at Quilters Corner before the event. Can't wait!
Kaffe's newest book has arrived! From cover to cover it is packed with stunning photography, beautiful text and exquisite quilts. Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts has been in the works for six years - and well worth the wait. His aim is to inspire you to look closely at the world around you for the simple shapes we use in our quilts. The details you notice may very well become the basis of an exceptional new piece. The book contains step-by-step instructions for twenty-three quilts. The fabric selections shown make even the simplest designs breathtaking. I've already begun collecting fabrics for the Bow-Tie Circles quilt. The clearly written directions will make construction of the piece an enjoyable task. Each book in our display is encircled with a 1-yard cut of Westminster fabric as our special thank you for purchasing the book in the shop. $35.00 (book with fabric cut) Order this book online...

Cherish Nature - Memory Quilt
Deb Strain has captured the delicate nuances of early spring is her new Cherish Nature collection for Moda. Shades of leaf green, aqua, beige and brown are featured in the small and medium scale designs. The egg print is absolutely charming. $8.99 per yard, charm squares $8.00 See the Cherish Nature fabrics online.
We have just used a Cherish Nature charm stack to make a petite memory quilt. With the addition of ½ yard of background fabric, 1/3 yard border fabric, backing, batting and ¼ yard binding fabric we had a delightful farewell gift in just a few days.
- The drawing below is the pattern we made for the 3" finished blocks (the pieces in the drawing do not include seam allowances - add ¼" seam allowances as you cut the center signature strip). The triangles were cut by first cutting 2 ¼" strips from the charm squares and then using the 1 ¾" mark on an Omnigrid 96 ruler to cut triangles (yielding more triangles this size from the charms than other methods would yield).

- Stitch a triangle to each of two opposite sides of the center strip and then have friends sign the squares.
- Lay out the squares in rows and then stitch one row to the next to make the quilt center. Stitch borders cut 2" wide to each edge and then layer, quilt and bind to finish your thoughtful gift.
