I always say I'll write when I have news - so you probably think I haven't had much to tell you... This time nothing could be farther from the truth! Since last writing I've run from one fantastic quilt world event to the next. I should have written as soon as Quilt Market was over (incredible new goodies at every turn) but I went from Market to Des Moines to visit American Patchwork and Quilting for a few days (lots and lots more inspiration!). The Western PA Shop Hop and our own Market Party greeted me when I returned. I hope you're finding as much joy in your quilting as I am at the moment - if not - stop in I'll share!

New Fabrics!
I know you're not really ready to start thinking about the winter holidays at the height of the summer, but I wanted to let you know that the Christmas fabrics are already arriving!!! Many of the spectacular collections were ordered last October - and you wonder why I seem confused some days... We have already created samples with some of the pieces, but others are "creatively" displayed exactly as they came out of the boxes as we checked them in!
 Holly Taylor's North Woods Botanical line is the inspiration for Sherri Falls newest book. Northern Botanical perfectly showcases the woodsy prints. Sherri is a master at using the motifs Holly features in each collection, as this book clearly illustrates!
Northern Botanical includes recipes for some of Sherri's favorite treats and patterns for 14 stunning projects. The quilts, both small and large, table pieces and gifts are shown in lovely color photos and in gray scale drawings. The directions for each project are clearly written and illustrated. Barb has just finished her rendition of the Poinsettia Pillow - a perfect summer project for those of you who love embroidery.

The North Woods Botanical collection was also the perfect choice for our Twister table runner. It was created with the help of a great new gadget. The Lil' Twister makes construction of the runners interlocking pinwheels a snap (even for those of us who are pinwheel challenged!). Squares are sewn together, bordered and then sub cut with the nifty little tool. Talk about magic - you're sure to be as amazed as we are.  For a brighter holiday palette check the new 12 Days of Christmas collection. Kate Spain was obviously inspired by the traditional carol, but she has taken a whimsical modern approach to the song. Patriotic Style
I hope you'll have a chance to stop in and see my version of Old Glory by Vicki Olsen. I was trying to finish it quickly so it could go out to be quilted last week but then I realized I wasn't having fun setting the rows together. I absolutely loved constructing each of the small blocks that make up the stars and stripes in this unique flag - the instructions are very well written and the piecing is not terribly difficult. I took a break for a day and then went back to stitching the blocks together. As it turned out it was great fun to watch the flag appear from all the pieces. Consider using your scraps in this unique project or check our historic section for the perfect red and blue prints. Pattern $13.00
