Fruit Salad Pincushion Pattern and Fabric Kit

from Miss Rosies Quilt Co.

Fruit Salad Pincushion Pattern from Miss Rosies Quilt Co.

Pincushions continue to be all the rage - Judy stitched one of the most adorable ones we have on display. The watermelon from Fruit Salad, by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company, proved to be a great way to use up bits and pieces from the historic pink and brown fabric sections. Simple pieces are cut, stitched, stuffed and then highlighted by a bit of hand stitching. Carrie writes very complete, well-illustrated directions - you are certain to enjoy the process - why not make them as holiday gifts?

Price - $9.00

Price - $4.95 (pattern sold separately)

Cottage Garden Baskets Pattern

from Crab Apple Hill

Garden Baskets by Crab Apple Hil

Barb and her Mom stitched the adorable Cottage Garden Baskets pillow we have in the shop. Pastel fabrics, threads and a bit of felted wool combine in this exquisite accent piece. I love the sweet embroidery motif line drawings Meg Hawkey has included in her directions for this project. You can tell which stitches to use, in most cases, just by looking at the full-scale pattern. If you like to stitch everything just like the original you will be pleased to find DMC floss numbers and stitching keys for each basket. Pattern $8.00

Price - $8.00

Miss Rosies Quilt Collection Book

from Carrie Nelson

Miss Rosies Quilt Collection from Carrie Nelson

Miss Rosie’s Quilt Collection is a wonderful book to have at your fingertips. The author, Carrie Nelson, is exceptionally good at using her vast fabric collection and sharing her creations in superb publications. Cathe selected her favorite pastel quilt, from the fourteen different patterns the book includes, and then raided her stash for the lovely quilt shown on the bed. As always, Carries directions are beautifully written and well illustrated – you will have no difficulty creating a quilt of unsurpassed beauty. Book $21.95

Stepping Stones Pattern

a Cosy Strip Club Pattern

Stepping Stones a Cosy Strip Club Pattern

Stepping Stones proves to be a great reason to cut into your favorite 2 ½” strips. The quilt can be made in a scrappy style or a more controlled palette (the shop sample takes a very pastel turn). The inclusion of a single accent fabric down the middle of each row of scrappy squares pulls all the different fabrics together. The pattern offers supply lists and instructions for throw, full and king size quilts. Each column (small, medium and large) is constructed from a strip set that includes background fabrics, varying numbers of print strips and accent fabric. Bona’s quilting really proves to be the crowning touch. She selected a variegated thread and a repeating design that peaks between the rows of squares. This stunning quilt will become the focal point in your room. Pattern $8.00

Price - $8.00

Furry Sweetness Pattern

from Eat Cake Graphics

Furry Sweetness Pattern

Janie couldn’t resist the endearing Furry Sweetness pattern. Her deft fabric selections bring the whimsical animals to life. The little critters are machine appliquéd and accented with ric rac and crystals (their sparkly eyes). If you look closely you can make out the superb machine quilting Jane has added as the finishing touch. Pattern $15.00

The simple cutting and piecing steps, detailed in the pattern, result in a smashing art piece. Pattern $9.00

Tulip Bag Pattern

by Janice Pope

Summer Trellis by Lisa Walton

This purse has all the necessary options – great size and shape, plenty of pockets, perfect handle length and reversible to boot! Janice Pope named her design the Two Hour Tulip Purse, but I must be honest – you may be able to construct your second or third version in two hours, but my first took a bit longer. I may have lost time carefully reading the instructions and selecting fabrics (but those really are important steps!). Janice provides patterns for four different sizes from petite to jumbo. My sample is the standard size – in my case perfect for everyday use. The shop batik section is currently bursting at the seams – I know you’ll be able to find several fabrics perfect for your own Tulip Purses. Pattern $12.00

Charmingly Rosey Book

by Jeni Buechel

When a very pretty Christmas line from Three Sisters arrrived at the shop, she purchased the whole bolt and designed this quilt. The quilt features 12 different applique wreathes and bouquets surrounded by a fabric frame and reverse applique corner motif along with an Ohio Star grouping as the alternate blocks. There are three setting variations included in the book along with full size patterns and templates. Finished quilt size is approx. 74" x 96". Book $20.00

Dresden Star Pattern

by Edyta Sitar

Dresdan Star by Edyta Sitar

Edyta Sitar has taken a modern approach to a very traditional looking quilt. Her innovative technique is used to create the tiny points that surround the block centers in Dresden Star. Historic style fabrics grace both the pattern front and out shop sample, but are certainly not the only fabrics that would work (wouldn’t this quilt be lovely in batiks?!). Edyta includes patterns for the pieces needed to stitch the blocks (alternatively, an acrylic template set is available for those who wish to rotary cut the pieces) and copious directions for block construction. I found that my pieces turned out slightly different in size (maybe a seam allowance issue) but everything worked out well when I modified the size of the center circle ever so slightly. I love this classy quilt - now if I could just find a few minutes to work on quilting it! Pattern $9.00, Template set $5.00

Mini Charmer Pattern and Charm Party Tote Pattern

by Penny Sturges

Charm Party Tote by Penny Sturges

Penny Sturges enjoyed such success with her Charm Party Tote that she followed it up with a smaller version. The mini Charmer is constructed in much the same way as the original. A collection of charm squares (this time only 17 are needed!) are stitched together for the bag body, ironed to Pellon Fusible Fleece and accented with a charming pocket. Pockets are also added to the lining and then the bag is completed with unique handles. New pattern - Mini Charmer $9.00, original pattern – Charm Party Tote $9.00

Bow Tucks Bag Pattern

by Penny Sturges

Bow Tucks Bag Pattern from Peggy Sturges

Oh my gosh, Penny Sturges has done it yet again! Her Bow Tucks Tote has quickly become a shop staple. Debbie enjoys constructing them almost as much as she likes selecting fabrics for each new version. At 15” x 11” x 5” deep it is a very versatile bag - Debbie carries her lunch in one – so much more stylish than a bag! Pockets on both the outside and inside will help you stay organized. Every time Debbie makes a new one I want to stitch one too – or at least get her to share it with all of you for just a bit! Pattern $9.00

Price - $9.00

Tag Along Tote Pattern

by Atkinson Designs

Bow Tucks Bag Pattern from Peggy Sturges

Our Tag Along Tote model sure gets attention. The lively Michael Miller fabrics were the perfect choice for this petite bag. It is easy to purchase fabrics to make this one – only three fat quarters required. We chose to add the top zipper, a pattern option, to our display bag (after putting in the zipper I decided a magnetic snap may have been easier). Terry pieces the front in an interesting manner – you’ll have to trust her directions and just stitch along – it turns out great. Pattern $8.00

Price - $8.00

Quilt Trip Around the World Pattern

by Ute-Barbara Skjønberg, Norway

Bow Tucks Bag Pattern from Peggy Sturges

Quilt Trip Around the World is a current bargello style favorite. We made a daring fabric selection for our 32 ½” x 32 ½” shop sample – Anda Lucia by Patty Young turned out to be an ideal choice! Quarter yard pieces are carefully cut into strips and stitched back together following the clearly illustrated directions. Consider this enjoyable quilt as your next project. Pattern $9.00. We are sorry but the kit is no longer available.
